The finalists for one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s most prestigious literary awards, the BMO Winterset Award, were announced on Tuesday in a statement from Arts NL.
Bridget Canning’s novel “Some People’s Children,” Eva Crocker’s novel “All I Ask” and Andrea Proctor’s non-fiction book “A Long Journey: Residential Schools in Newfoundland and Labrador” are the three books left in the running.
The BMO Winterset Award was established in 2000 to celebrate excellence in Newfoundland and Labrador writing. It is for books published in any genre in the previous year by people from the province or who are currently living here.
The award comes with a prize of $12,500 for the winner. The two other finalists receive $3,000.
The winner will be announced on March 25.
