EMERALD JUNCTION, P.E.I. — Courtney Hogan welcomes one of her favourite guests and entertainers, Michael Pendergast and his son, Shane, to the Emerald Boxcar today at 7:30 p.m.

Hailing from western Prince Edward Island, Pendergast is a well-known entertainer who embraces his Irish and Acadian backgrounds to share performances with audiences of all ages.

Every Islander knows that the music runs deep in the Pendergast family, so it would come as no surprise that Michael’s son, who will be joining him and Hogan on stage, is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter as well. Surrounded by a musical family, Shane Pendergast has deep roots of traditional Maritime, Acadian and Celtic music. A film production student at York University, he spends his weekends playing at pubs across Toronto, but returns home to the Island to perform for the summer.

Step dancer Abigail Rogers will be joining the trio on stage as well.

The Boxcar Pub & Grill opens at 5:30 p.m. with the show starting at 7:30 p.m. Admission is at the door, and there will be 50/50 tickets, CDs, ceilidh shirts and Island pottery for sale.
