TIGNISH, P.E.I. — It’s a venue he’s performed at many times.
This Saturday at 3 pm, Blair Gaudet will be back at the Tignish Legion for the release party for his solo CD, “Storytime.”
Gaudet, 58, has been writing and singing songs since he was a teenager.
“This is truly a labour of love,” he says of the CD he recorded at Danny MacNevin’s Bigdogz Recording Studio. “People would often say to me, ‘Why not do a CD?’ So, after all these years, I finally decided to take the plunge.”
There is a mix of story-time songs about the Island fishery, about relationships, heartache and love, and a track about moonshine-making.
He’s not entirely new to recording, though, as he was part of the 1990s country-rock band, “140 Smooth Bore,” that recorded an album and he played a big role in producing Tignish’s Bicentennial CD.
“I strongly encouraged Blair to make this CD as I have always been impressed with Blair’s ability to tell stories through music,” said the CD’s producer, Kurk Bernard.
“Blair is a great guy, a great songwriter, and storyteller.”
