CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The annual Remembrance Day poppy campaign will begin Friday, Oct. 25, with Veterans Week from Nov. 5 - Nov. 11.

All the money raised during the annual poppy campaign remains in each community. For example, in Charlottetown, poppy donations are used to support groups like the Kent Corp Sea Cadets and the Navy League Sea Cadets.

Poppy campaign donations also support veterans in need, student bursaries as well as organizations like the QEH, Meals on Wheels, Pat & the Elephant, Camp Gencheff.

For a full dispersion of fund visit the www.charlottetownlegion.ca web page.

Student contest

During the poppy campaign, the Legion invites students to submit poems, essays or posters. There are financial prizes for first second and third place winners. Each winner is judged by Provincial Command with the winner going on to Dominion Command. Each winning group will receive some financial award from each level of the Legion.

In the Charlottetown area, all entries must be into the Charlottetown Legion at 99 Pownal St. no later than Nov. 30.

Volunteer

Anyone one can volunteer to help with the poppy campaign, it is not necessary to be a Legion member. All help is greatly appreciated. To volunteer, call 902-892 6022.
