Special appearances have also been confirmed from Patrick Ledwell, Zack MacEwen, Ross Johnston, Adam McQuaid, Gerard (Turk) Gallant, Heather Moyse and Lorie Kane. There will be a special cooking demo from chef Michael Smith and the event will be hosted by Kevin (Boomer) Gallant.

“At this time of uncertainty, we want to take a step back and enjoy an evening of entertainment and fellowship in celebration of P.E.I.,” said CFPEI president Jonathan Ross in a news release. “We hope this will be a time to sit back, relax and enjoy some wonderful entertainment while also abiding by the social distancing and self-isolation measures that are currently in place.”

The P.E.I. stay-at-home gala will take place April 24 from 6 to 9 p.m. It is free for viewers, but people must register in advance on the Community Foundation website at cfpei.ca.

To support the P.E.I. restaurant industry, when reserving tickets online, people will have the opportunity of reserving a takeout or delivery meal from participating restaurants, although they are also welcome cook up their own meal at home. Participating restaurants will show their support for the cause by donating a percentage of their sales from the evening to the foundation.

“Social distancing at its finest, the first-of-its-kind event will host all the familiar elements: dinner (take-out, delivered or home-made by you), performances by musicians and entertainers and special guest appearances from some well-known Island athletes and personalities,” say organizers in the release.

While the event is being shared for free, any donations to the Community Foundation of P.E.I. will support the newly established COVID-19 Community Impact Fund, which will direct funds back into the most in-need P.E..I charities during this time of need.

As the event continues to take shape, and as more entertainers and guests confirm their availability, additional information will be announced and shared via email and through the foundation’s website and Facebook page.

The gala is being sponsored by Maritime Electric, The Guardian/Saltwire Network, The Eastern and West Prince Graphic Newspapers and Ocean 100.3/Hot 105.5.
