CORNWALL, P.E.I. — Phase II and Friends are putting together a concert which combines the great songs of Elvis Presley with the songs of the season.

It’s happening at West River United Church in Cornwall on Nov. 24 at 7 p.m.

The band did several Elvis concerts in recent weeks which were very well received. When they booked this date at West River, the original plan was simply an Elvis concert, but Keila Glydon, one of the group's vocalists, suggested adding a few Christmas songs to the mix.

The idea appealed to the whole group. Thus, Sunday's show will feature some of the King's greatest hits in the field of rock n roll, country and blues, while adding a number of Christmas songs known to be Presley's favourites.

"The Elvis Presley repertoire is enormous and the most difficult part is having to leave out so many great tunes," says Gerry Hickey, frontman for the band.

West River United Church is located in the heart of Cornwall, just off the highway. It is a warm and inviting venue boasting good acoustics and great sight lines to the stage.

Phase II and Friends is a seven-piece group formed when the original band, Phase II, decided to add a couple of female voices for a concert. Many concerts and dances later, the Keila Glydon and Jeanie Campbell are still there.

The rest of the band includes John McGarry, Ed Young, Pat King and the founding members, Blaine Murphy and Gerry Hickey.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $12 per person. To reserve tickets, contact the church. Tickets also available at the door.
