PORT HILL, P.E.I. — Trooper is returning to P.E.I. for the 2020 Rock the Boat MusicFest.
Known for such hit songs as “Raise a Little Hell” and “We’re Here for a Good Time (Not a Long Time)”, Trooper was a featured act at the third annual Rock the Boat in 2016.
The band's greatest hits, Hot Shots, went platinum six times.
Trooper is returning for the seventh annual festival, which will be held at Green Park near Tyne Valley on Aug. 1.
Rock the Boat MusicFest is a featured event of the Tyne Valley Oyster Festival. Event chairman Adam MacLennan released a preliminary list of performers on Friday.
Other confirmed acts include, The Reklaws, Glass Tiger, Cory Gallant (2018 CCMA spotlight artist), the Red Dirt Posse, and, perennial favourites, The Ellis Family Band.
“Every year, Rock the Boat keeps getting bigger and bigger,” MacLennan said.
“We have earned the reputation of being one of the best events that the Island has to offer.”
MacLennan said he thinks The Reklaws will be Canada's "next great country music superstars”
He said that siblings Jenna and Stuart Walker are universal recording artists who have just released their second studio album, Freshman Year.
Glass Tiger, he said, was one of the country's best-selling Canadian acts of the 1980s.
The full slate of Rock the Boat performers is still being finalized.
Festival tickets and remaining campsites at Green Park can be purchased through tvoysterfest.ca.
MacLennan reminds festival-goers that limited Rock the Boat VIP tickets always sell out quickly.
