The second animal to be profiled in the 2019 edition of the 12 Strays of Christmas is Herbie.

This quiet three-year-old tabby shorthair cat loves to cuddle. Herbie came in with an injured tail but is healing nicely. Herbie might be OK with a slow introduction to other cats and dogs.

Pet Tip No. 2

Grooming helps keep a cat, dog or rabbit happy and healthy.

A dog bath helps remove old hair, dirt and excess oil from the skin.

Brushing will help keep the coat clean and free of hair mats preventing some skin diseases.

Long nails can be painful, so it’s best to keep them short. Most enjoy grooming and often wait eagerly to be combed.

The 12 Strays of Christmas is a joint project between The Guardian and the P.E.I. Humane Society. For more information, contact the P.E.I. Humane Society at www.peihumanesociety.com or 902-892-1190.
