The first animal to be profiled in the 2019 edition of the 12 Strays of Christmas is Baxter.

This intelligent one-year-old Labrador retriever loves to play. Baxter is a goofy but smart dog that does well with positive reinforcement training.

He would prefer a home without animals or children.

Pet Tip No. 1

Are you baking for the holidays? Consider making homemade dog biscuits.

Simple cookies created from a variety of ingredients can include things like oat flour, peanut butter, pumpkin, apple sauce and eggs.

Make sure the peanut butter is not sweetened with Xylitol, which is poisonous to dogs. Happy baking.

The 12 Strays of Christmas is a joint project between The Guardian and the P.E.I. Humane Society. For more information, contact the P.E.I. Humane Society at www.peihumanesociety.com or 902-892-1190.
