P.E.I. HIGH SCHOOL REPORTS: Kinkora hosting parent council meeting

It’s a busy week for Island high schools as they host university recruiters, gear up for parent-teacher interviews and welcome new staff members for the second semester.

Kinkora Regional High School

A parent council meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in the KRHS library. Parent council is an opportunity for parents and the school to meet and discuss any issues relevant to KRHS students' education. School staff provide information about upcoming events, act on feedback from the parent community and work together as a partnership to provide opportunities for all students at the school. 

Looking ahead, there will be a free Christmas turkey dinner at noon on Dec. 17 for the entire student body. Dec. 18 is the last day of classes for 2020.

The students in the academy diploma program in agriculture and bioscience hosted their fifth annual Buy a Cookie, Buy a Goat fundraiser for its twinned school in Kenya (a program through Farmers Helping Farmers) on Nov. 26.

The students are also having It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like WHMIS session after school on Dec. 8, 3-4 p.m., and will be making Christmas cards for seniors on Dec. 10 at lunch.

Tom Hilton, education officer with the P.E.I. Human Rights Commission, gave a presentation to the law 521 classes on Nov. 25.

Colonel Gray High School

UPEI will be hosting its next virtual information session on Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Register at upei.ca/december05 and email questions to [email protected].

On Dec. 14, there will be a MADD Canada student presentation.

The last day of classes for students before Christmas break is Dec. 18.


Charlottetown Rural High School

The 2020 yearbooks are in and can be picked up at the school office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Remember to wear a mask. Due COVID-19, no visits with current students and teachers are allowed.
