One of the songs from P.E.I. band Emerald Junction’s debut album “Kickin’ It’’ is going to be getting some airplay in New York City on Sunday, July 28.

“Take Me Back, December’’, written and performed by Ron Kelly, will join the lineup of the show “Woody’s Children on WFUV between 5-6 p.m. Atlantic time.

The episode will originally stream live during that time and then be archived for two weeks at www.wfuv.org.

“There’s always a thread running throughout each edition of ‘Woody’s Children’, some kind of connection that leads from one song to the next," said show host, Bob Sherman.

On July 28, listeners can find out where “Take Me Back, December’’ fits in that day’s thread by pointing their browser to www.cfuv.org at 5 p.m. Atlantic time. Past versions of “Woody’s Children’’ can be accessed in WFUV’s weekend archives at wfuv.org/weekendarchives.

The programs are archived for two weeks. For those who can’t listen live on July 28, the program will be up there any time before Aug. 11.

“Kickin’ It’’, produced by Jon Rehder and Chris Gauthier, was released in October and was nominated for consideration as Music P.E.I. Country Album of the Year.

WFUV (90.7 FM), based out of Fordham University in The Bronx district of New York City, has been a non-commercial, member-supported public media service for more than 70 years. It describes itself as “New York’s source of music discovery’’ and has received national recognition for its unique weekday format of adult album alternative music, award-winning local news and sports and a diverse weekend lineup.

“Woody’s Children’’ focuses on folk favourites of the past and present. It debuted in 1969 and its name is based on a phrase coined by Pete Seeger to describe the singer-songwriter following in Woody Guthrie’s footsteps. “Woody’s Children’’ has helped launch the careers of Christine Lavin and Julie Gold, among others.

Over the years, the likes of Judy Collins, Odetta, Tom Paxton, Peter, Paul and Mary and Seeger himself have performed live on the program, which has garnered a number of prestigious broadcasting awards for its unusual approach to music.

Sherman has also served as a music critic and columnist for the New York Times for more than 40 years and is the author of numerous books, including two bestsellers he co-authored with pianist and comedian Victor Borge. In addition, he has been on the faculty of the Julliard School of Music for nearly 20 years.

He also hosts the Lincoln Centre for the Performing Arts presentation of the annual Avery Fisher Career Grants and hosts and produces the McGraw-Hill Companies’ Young Artists Showcase.

Previous hosting assignments included the shows “Vibrations’’ on PBS and “Camera Three’’ on CBS.
