MONT-CARMEL, P.E.I. — The Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel (CDCPMC) has announced the artists who will be performing at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall on Sunday, Aug. 4.
Jordane, traditional artists Colin Savoie-Levac and Éléonore Pitre, singer/songwriter Janet McGarry, accompanied by Serge Bernard, and Ivan and Vivian Hicks will take the stage for this fifth show of the season, presented in partnership with the Atlantic Fiddlers’ Jamboree and the Fédération culturelle de l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard. There will also be step-dancing by Hailee Lefort.

The concert starts at 7 p.m., with the doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11, Mont-Carmel) opening at 6:15 p.m. There will also be 50/50 tickets, and the canteen will be open.

Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for members of the co-operative, $5 for students and free for preschoolers.

Jordane, who has opened for Serena Ryder for a number of shows during one of her tours, currently has two recordings: “Folk Expressions”, released in 2017, and “12 Jours”, a folk-americana album that was released last January.

Savoie-Levac and Pitre have been sharing the stage for a number of years. Both are members of the group Rosier (formerly known as Les Poules à Colin).  These two traditional musicians grew up backstage at folk festivals and have performed in various cities across Canada and in numerous European countries, including the United Kingdom and in the Ivory Coast.

The husband and wife duo of McGarry and Bernard have performed for many years at bluegrass festivals and many other events throughout Eastern Canada. Whether they are performing bluegrass, country or folk music, their unique vocals and harmonies make them crowd favourites.

Member of the North American Fiddlers’ Hall of Fame, Ivan Hicks has been playing music for over 70 years. This renowned composer is an ambassador for Atlantic Canada’s heritage and is the co-founder of the Riverview Arts Centre. He has been sharing the stage with his wife, Vivian, for a number of years, and together, they have received numerous awards and prizes, including the Stompin’ Tom Award handed out by the East Coast Music Association (ECMA) in recognition of their long-term contribution to the East Coast music industry. Lefort will stepdance to the sounds of their traditional music.
