For the first time in the show’s history, there is a Prince Edward Islander among the houseguests of Big Brother Canada.

Season 8 starts on March 4 and features Mill River resident Vanessa Clements, a 26-year-old lobster fisherman.

She is the daughter of Blair and Cindy Clements of Glengarry and now lives in Mill River.

“I’m definitely not going to be a floater,” she says, speaking into the camera as part of an online bio on the shows website.

“Working on the high seas has taught be one thing: when something floats, it stinks.”

Clements says she’s “super proud” to be the first houseguest from P.E.I.

“P.E.I., I’m your girl; I’m not going to let you down. You’d best believe I’m going to bring the win home to the Island.”

The new season starts March 4 on Global but there is a special preview on March 1. at 9 p.m.

Followers of the show can help ensure Clements makes it through the first eviction by going to the Big Brother Canada website selecting from the 16 houseguests and voting as often as they want for the houseguest they want to protect from eviction. Voting closes on Saturday, Feb. 29.
