The second Tuesday Talk, organized by the Acadian Museum of P.E.I., will take place at the Village musical acadien, in Abram-Village, tonight at 7 p.m.

Historian Georges Arsenault will give a presentation in French entitled "Découvrir les établissements et les habitants de l'île Saint-Jean."

Between 1720 and 1758, Prince Edward Island was a French colony called Île Saint-Jean. In the 1750s, the Island included many small settlements with names such as Belair, La Traverse,

Anse aux Morts and Étang du Naufrage. In his talk, Arsenault will discuss the French toponymy of the Island at that time and what remains of it today.

The historian will also tell stories about some of the men, women and children who lived in these communities. He will talk about Louise Belliveau (née Haché-Gallant) and Joseph (also known as League and Half) Arsenault, whose descendants are still very numerous on the Island.

Georges Arsenault has studied and published extensively on the Acadian history and traditions of Prince Edward Island. His most recent book, published last year, is entitled Illustrated History of the Acadians of Prince Edward Island.

Admission to the talk is free, but donations are greatly appreciated.

Register in advance as space is limited to 50 people by calling 902-432-2880.
