CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Award-winning Island folk group Fiddlers' Sons will play tonight in the Katherine Hughes Memorial Hall in the Irish Cultural Centre at 582 North River Rd., Charlottetown.
Featuring Eddy Quinn, John B. Webster and Courtney Hogan-Chandler, Fiddlers' Sons marked 20 years in the music business in 2017 with the release of a compilation album of their most requested songs. Fiddlers' Sons: The Best of Twenty Years contains 22 selections written and performed by the band members that explore Island life and its people.
Quinn is the lead vocalist and also plays the guitar and bodhran. He has released two solo albums for which he has received four P.E.I. Music Awards. Webster is the group’s lead guitarist and backup vocalist. He grew up on the Station Road in Cardigan and was interested in music from an early age. His father Jackie was a fiddle player and his grandfather Jack had a band called Jack Webster’s Orchestra. Hogan-Chandler is known as the "Fiddling Veterinarian". Besides performing and recording with the group, she had released two CDs of her own and has recently released a collaboration album with Keelin Wedge titled Dark and Amber Rosin.
Fiddlers' Sons have been playing their brand of grassroots music to packed houses at the Benevolent Irish Society for 20 years.
The Irish Hall will be observing the P.E.I. Health Authority gathering guidelines of 50 people inside the hall due to coronavirus (COVID-19 strain) restrictions, so patrons are encouraged to come early to ensure a seat.
Admission price is $15 at the door. Children 12 and under remain at $5. Doors open at 7 p.m., the show starts at 8 p.m. and there will be a 50/50 draw during the evening. For more information call 902-213-3924.
