HARRINGTON, P.E.I. — The annual Farmers Helping Farmers barbecue will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10.

The event takes place at the Agriculture Canada facility in Harrington from 4-6 p.m.

The menu will feature Island beef, vegetables, a salad bar and strawberry shortcake.

The organization is also looking for help with this year’s barbecue. Volunteers can bring salads, bake a shortcake, prep veggies, cook, serve, clean up and wash up.

Students are welcome to volunteer. Farmers Helping Farmers is registered under the community services bursary and transportation can be arranged.

Anyone who would like to volunteer is asked to contact Wendy MacDonald at [email protected].

Tickets are $35 for adults and $10 for children. They're available by email from [email protected] or pick them up at Van Kampen’s Greenhouses, the Farm Centre, Riverview Market and Judy Loo at the Farmers’ Market.

The money raised supports the work of Farmers Helping Farmers in Kenya, including support for schools, women’s groups and dairies in the Meru and Mukurweini areas.
