The East Coast Music Awards Show returns as a live event on Thursday, May 6 at Sydney’s Centre 200, with a broad lineup of Atlantic Canadian artists set to perform. Tickets for the event are now on sale.

Top nominees Classified and Rose Cousins are on the gala roster, along with ECMA-nominated Nova Scotians like Rich Aucoin, Zamani, Keonte Beals and Like a Motorcycle. Cape Breton performers will include ECMA and Juno Award-nominated Celtic quartet Beolach and Rising Star nominee Hauler, a new project from Slowcoaster’s Steve MacDougall and Mike LeLievre with fiddler Colin Grant.

Prince Edward Island will be represented by quadruple nominee Catherine MacLellan and group recording of the year nominee Sorrey, while Pabineau First Nation rapper Wolf Castle and vocal group Les Hay Babies bring fresh New Brunswick sounds to the stage.

St. John’s folk duo Rube & Rake and Happy Valley Indigenous group Silver Wolf Band bring their unique hybrids of sounds to the ECMA stage from Newfoundland and Labrador.

The East Coast Music Awards Show will be hosted by Cape Breton sketch and video comedian Justine Williamson from the Magic Ranch and Kentville comic Jay Malone, who’s also been taking his show online in the COVID-19 era.

Socially distanced arena seating is now on sale via Tickemaster.ca at $40 plus fees. Tables of ten can also be purchased for $1,000 each plus HST by contacting Kathryn Herbert at [email protected]. Details about Centre 200’s COVID-19 seating plan can be found on the arena website.

“Our host community is very excited to have us back in Sydney for the 33rd ECMAs, where live music is recognized to be a vital part of the community,” said ECMA CEO Andy McLean in the award show announcement.

“We continue to work closely with government departments and industry stakeholders to deliver an event that celebrates the importance of live music, while ensuring the safety of all involved.”

The May 6 2021 East Coast Music Awards Show is one of two events during the ECMA Festival & Conference, with the second being a virtual Music & Industry Awards event taking place on May 9. Further details about the 2021 ECMA week in Cape Breton, May 5 to 9, and its combination of in-person and virtual programming and showcases, will be announced in the coming weeks.
