CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The Charlottetown Legion Choir will once again combine voices with the Teachers and Friends in Harmony Choir in performing two Christmas concerts this month.

The first will take place at Park Royal Church, Charlottetown on Sunday, Dec. 15, beginning at 4 p.m. Doors open at 3:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Dec. 17, the choir will perform at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Stratford at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.

The musicians will be performing a Christmas concert based on the iconic story, “A Christmas Carol”, by Charles Dickens.

This abridged tale of Ebenezer Scrooge comes to life with over 60 singers, skilled community musicians and several local storytellers.

Be prepared for an enchanting evening of well-loved Christmas carols with spirited narrations woven throughout.

Tickets are $10 cash-in-advance from choir members or $12 at the door ($8 for veterans and spouses).

Advance purchased tickets may be used at either location.

Call 902-368-1798 to reserve tickets.

There will also be plenty of free parking and wheelchair accessibility at both locations.

Following the concert refreshments will be provided by choir members and are included in the admission price.

The Charlottetown Legion Choir, one of Atlantic Canada's vibrant community based ensembles, was founded in 1963 and is the oldest Legion-affiliated ensemble in Canada. Today, under the direction of conductor Travis Boudreau and accompanist Helen Holman, the group's 40-plus mixed chorus is noted for impressing audiences with the quality, range and depth of their music.

Participants delight in performing a varied repertoire of popular folk and show tunes plus sacred music and traditional pieces in three-four part harmony.

The chorus members come from all sectors of the community while continuing the choir's proud history of affiliation with the Charlottetown Legion, notably performing at Remembrance Day celebrations. Feature events for the choir are its annual Christmas and Spring concerts. Rehearsals are held weekly at Stone Park Intermediate School between September and May.

The Teachers and Friends in Harmony choir has existed since 1998. While initially comprised of teachers, the choir now is open to anyone who loves to sing. Practices, under the direction of Sara Campbell, are held weekly at Spring Park School.

Both choirs warmly welcome new voices, including those with limited singing or musical experience.
