When he's not on stage as the title character at the Stompin’ Tom Dinner Theatre in Skinners Pond, Chad Matthews is fine-tuning a Stompin’ Tom tribute show he will be presenting Oct. 19 at Summerside’s Harbourfront Theatre.

It is a follow-up to a sold-out show he presented there in June and he says tickets sales are running on par or ahead of last time.

Matthews will be accompanied by his band of Daniel Drouin, Keelin Wedge, Rodney Arsenault and Wade Carragher. Opening the show for them will be well-known Island entertainer, Kim Albert.

Matthews is thankful to the Stompin’ Tom Dinner Theatre for being the catalyst to not only his Stompin’ Tom tribute show but also the role he took on in a feature film due out next year of a fishing boat captain in a feature film, "Still the Water", written and directed by Susan Rodgers.

The Oct. 19 show is testing grounds for a tribute show he hopes to take on the road next spring. He revealed that he recently received permission from the Stompin’ Tom Connors estate to do an Atlantic Canada tribute tour.

“I think Tom’s music is pretty strong, still, and I think people like to hear it, for sure,” Matthews commented.

Tickets to the Harbourfront show are available at the Harbourfront box office only.
