TYNE VALLEY, P.E.I. — Green Park was packed with 5,000 fans that came to the party with local and legendary rockers at the sixth annual Rock the Boat festival, Saturday evening.
Adam MacLennan, festival chairman, said crowds started to pour through the gates early in the afternoon to watch the Ellis Family Band, Haywire, Honeymoon Suite, Soul Filter, and Josee Adams perform.
“But for me, I think The Road Hammers stole the show – they were amazing,” he said.
JUNO award-winning Canadian country-rockers, The Road Hammers (“Mud,” “Your Love is the Drug,” “Crazy About You”), are the highest selling Canadian country music band in history. The band had everyone on their feet with their unique blend of classic rock and country music.
“In Tyne Valley, we have created a brand, a reputation, that makes the festival a whole experience. You come for the day and have a good time. It’s conveniently located next to a campground.
"And over the six years, we have built the brand and it is really starting to pay off,” said MacLennan.
Headliners for Rock the Boat included The Road Hammers, and hard rockers Big Wreck.
“The weather turned out good. It was a great day in sales. Everyone was well-behaved. Overall, it went as well as we were dreaming,” said MacLennan.
