The countdown is underway for the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, which opens the chutes in four months.

Once again, Homes by Avi is building the Stampede Rotary Dream Home on Stampede Park, the 25th Dream Home for the builder and for the 14th year, Homes by Avi sponsored the Dream Home Artist project.

The project invited local artists to submit examples of their work, with the opportunity to have their art displayed in the Dream Home, to be seen by an expected crowd of more than 100,000 people.

The 2020 Dream Home Artist is Calgary-based Katie Leahul.

“Katie’s interesting and unique style of cubism is what initially intrigued us. Her organic colour palette lent to the style of this year’s Stampede Rotary Dream Home,” says Julie Punter, manager of showhome selections and presentation at Homes by Avi. “We are excited to have Katie, a talented and emerging artist, showcased in this year’s home.”

The Dream Home Artist Project has been responsible for launching successful careers for many up-and-coming artists and Leahul is busy now working on the 30 to 40 pieces of art that will adorn the walls of the Dream Home.

Leahul says she “almost fell over” when she got the news she and her art had been selected.

“It’s hard to put into words all the thoughts and feelings I’ve had over the last few days on being selected for the Dream Home project,” she says. “I’m incredibly honoured, especially considering the talented alumni who’ve done the Dream Home in the past. It’s a very special group of artists that I am honoured to be part of.”
