CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Emily MacIsaac wanted students and staff at the college to have some fun this Halloween.

So, the college’s instruction librarian is hosting the Pumpkin Decorating Contest.

“I want to make sure that students have lots of fun activities this time. Nobody is stressed out with midterms or (anything) else,” MacIsaac said.

To participate, students and staff will get a pumpkin, carve, paint or decorate it, then take a picture of their creation and send it to [email protected] by Oct. 31 to enter to win a prize.

“The prize is a surprise,” MacIsaac said with a laugh.

MacIsaac hopes to see some amazing submissions.

“I know there are a lot of people who are very creative at the college and it’s a fun hands-on activity, so I’m just looking for cool creativity.”

Second-year student Aghil Hasanpoor said the contest is exciting because the college hosts it and offers prizes.

“Everyone wants to win. For my pumpkin, I’m thinking about a new decoration which could be related to the current situation with wired masks and clothes.”

Thu Le, a first-year business student, enjoyed her first time carving a pumpkin for Halloween.

“At first, I was nervous and confused about how to use the pumpkin carving tools. But once I get used to it, the pumpkin is an ultimate creative muse to me.”
