Jeff Goldblum is the latest actor to defend Woody Allen, saying that although he is a self-proclaimed ally of the #MeToo movement, he believes the director is innocent until proven guilty.

Goldblum had a very brief — but kind of unforgettable — role in Allen’s 1977 film Annie Hall , and said he would consider working with him again.

“I think there is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty,” he said to iNews . “I know I enjoyed working with him many years ago and I sat in with his band once, too.”

He added, “Even though I feel like this cultural shift (the #MeToo movement) is very, very positive and long overdue and I support it wholeheartedly and take it very seriously, I also admire his body of work. So, I would consider working with him again, until I learned something more (negative).”

It’s hard to imagine what could be more negative than the allegations that have followed Allen for decades: Dylan Farrow, Allen’s daughter, has long claimed he molested her when she was seven years old. Those accusations — supported by Allen’s son Ronan Farrow — resurfaced last year and picked up steam during the #MeToo movement, with many actors denouncing Allen, and Amazon cancelling a four-film deal with him.

But plenty showed support, including Scarlett Johansson and his long-time pal Diane Keaton. In fact, Allen is currently working on a new film, which stars Christoph Waltz, Wallace Shawn and Gina Gershon.

Goldblum, meanwhile, is well on his way to being “cancelled” by the masses on Twitter, who didn’t take kindly to his approval of Allen. One tweeted , “jeff goldblum defending woody allen is just further proof that even the nicest of men can be disappointments and that in itself is exactly the issue with hollywood.” While another put it more bluntly : “When I saw Jeff Goldblum was trending I worried he might be dead. This is so much worse.”
