The Ceilidh in the City will be hosting a special reunion show this evening with special musical guests "The New Sounds".
Back in the summer of 1974, a group of up-and-coming musicians was touring the Island from tip to tip with sights set on the big times. Called The New Sounds, this popular dance band in the early 1970s was in high demand for weddings, festivals and night clubs performing the top music of the day.
The band consisted of Terry Dunsford (lead singer and rhythm guitar), Dave Berrigan (lead guitar), Wayne Dunsford (bass guitar) and Ceilidh in the City’s Brian Knox (drums). This group is reuniting for one night and will be transforming the Jack Blanchard Centre into a retro 1970s concert hall.
The New Sounds will be joining the ceilidh hosts Kendall Docherty, Peter Burke, Heartz Godkin, Brian Blacquiere and Knox for an evening of music at the centre, located at 7 Pond St. in Charlottetown. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. showtime.
There will be a canteen and bar service provided by the Holy Redeemer catering team, as well as a 50/50 draw in support of various local charities and families in need. For additional information, call Docherty 902-569-1133 or Knox at 902-569-3327 or follow online at facebook.com/CeildihInTheCity.
