“What advantage then hath the Jew? ... chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.” (Romans 3:1-2)

In the Old Testament Israel worshipped a God that was distinct from the gods of all the nations round about them. The basis for their knowledge of Him – the basis for their worship – was a Book.

The Old Testament Scriptures revealed the God who created the universe. They told also of His perfect holiness, justice, love, mercy, and absolute sovereignty. Israel had the ultimate privilege. They were given the guide and standard of all true worship – the Oracles of God.

Now Jesus Christ has come and fulfilled God’s salvation plan. Now the Bible includes the New Testament. Those who ridicule absolute faith in that completed revelation of God are only announcing their own opposition to Bible Christianity. They have embraced another “oracle.”

Everybody worships, and everybody's worship life has an oracle, a revelation, a creed that is the foundation and the basis for their most basic belief structures. This is demonstrated in the many holy books of other religions like the Koran, the Book of Morman, or the Vedas.

The reason for this is not because the billions of people represented in all these religious groups are any less intelligent than others. It is because mankind for millennia has recognized that matters of worship are beyond the power of human science or natural investigation.

They require the word of a prophet or holy man acting under special enablement to deliver knowledge beyond the scope of natural human enquiry.

The lie of secularism and intellectualism is that their belief structures and their rejection of the God of the Bible is the result of scientific ‘fact.’ Whenever science thinks to engage the spiritual sphere and challenge the oracular statements of the Bible it thereby becomes a competing worship order.

For example the theory of evolution contradicts the simple Bible account of God’s Creation of the Universe. The question of origins is not something that has been settled by the scientific method. It is a matter of faith.

Just listen to the way the CBC program “Quirks and Quarks” preaches the religion of evolution. Nobody would ever come to their conclusions unless they also were predisposed to believe in evolution as a given (accepted it by faith).

If the bug is white it is an evidence of evolution. If the bug is black it is an evidence of evolution. If the bug is speckled, the same.

Not only do prophets wear academic gowns, they also come disguised as anchormen in the six o’clock news. Why do you believe what you do about world events, the election of Donald Trump, global warming, acceptable moral standards, etc., except it has been preached to you over and over by a trusted media prophet.
