CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - The start of February brings Groundhog Day, a time when even this humble mammal must get out and about, to see what the rest of winter holds.
If a simple groundhog has to leave the burrow by February, people must be looking for a a treat for getting at least partway through a P.E.I. winter, including a high-spirited night out with friends, raising a toast and kicking off the winter doldrums, whether they’re going to last six more weeks or not.
Join comedian Patrick Ledwell and musician Mark Haines for “The Shack Wacky Review,” a show celebrating Islanders and the unique qualities that help people live, drive and survive, all year round.
It runs Saturday, Feb. 2, at the P.E.I. Brewing Company, 96 Kensington Rd., in Charlottetown.
“Despite sincere post-Christmas resolutions, Islanders feel shut in by the beginning of February. The idea behind this show is basic. Let’s get people out of the house together, a good drink in hand and host a barn-board-rattling night of entertainment.”

Ledwell and Haines have established a P.E.I. tradition with “The Island Summer Review,” which has played six sold-out seasons at Harmony House in Hunter River. The duo is already ramping up for summer 2019.
As their only full Charlottetown show this winter, “The Shacky Wacky Review” will plow full-steam ahead through a wintery Island landscape for jokes, songs and combinations of the two.
“We’re already writing for the new summer season. I’m excited to try new pieces and revisit a few favorites in this lively venue,” adds Haines.
The show begins at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.
