Registration dates announced for Salvation Army Christmas assistance

“I was one of nine children and I was the oldest and we were very poor. My mother was a single mom and we had nothing, very little food. If it were not for the community and the Salvation Army, we would not have had a Christmas or a Christmas dinner. Now as a mature adult it’s my time to give back,” said Owens.

Salvation Army asks families to register for their Christmas hampers and toys

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. - Anyone can be in a difficult financial situation at Christmas, so to take away the stress and make it a joyous time for all the Salvation Army in Summerside asks families to register for their Christmas hamper and toy program.

Families are asked to register on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 23 and Thursday Oct 25 at 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 6 and Thursday Nov. 8 at 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 27 and Tuesday Dec. 4 at 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Each member of the family is kindly asked to provide picture identification, which can include a driver’s license, health or volunteer card. Proof of address, a phone number and household income will also be required.

The Salvation Army is located at 374 Pope Road in Summerside.
