Duncan McIntosh will present “A Brief History of Professional Theatre in P.E.I.” today at 7:30 p.m. at Benevolent Irish Society, 582 North River Rd., Charlottetown.
Admission is free, and everyone is welcome. Doors open at 7 p.m.
McIntosh has directed and produced more than 200 plays, operas and special events throughout North America and Europe in the last 30 years. He has been the artistic director of three of Canada’s largest theatres, is a published and produced playwright of 12 plays and was the founding artistic director of the Watermark Theatre in Rustico.
He was also the president of Anne In China, Inc., a company which translated and published “Anne of Green Gables” with Tsinghua University Press. Hom Fa Ann-e was shortlisted as one of the 50 most influential books published in China in 2012 by the Chinese Publishing Association. McIntosh is president of the Canada China Friendship and Goodwill Association, which encourages educational and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
He lives in West Covehead, with his partner Wade MacLauchlan, who is the premier of Prince Edward Island.
