Leaders, gold recipients honoured at P.E.I. reception

Special guests, music part of Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award event

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. —

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Canada - Prince Edward Island held a reception recently at Government House in Charlottetown to recognize leaders and gold recipients.

Past resident Robert Moffatt called upon Lt.-Gov. Antoinette Perry for her remarks.

President Neil Thompson thanked Perry for hosting the event and welcomed leaders, gold recipients, special guests and sponsors. He also called upon Susan Willis, deputy minister of Education, Early Learning and Culture, for her remarks.

Inspiring speeches were given by the East Wilshire leader and a gold recipient.

Music for the event was provided by Mengjue Chen, Grace Christian School, and Betty Zhang, Colonel Gray High School.

Perry presented the leaders with their certificate and pin for their years of service with the award and presented gold recipients their gold pin as they wait for a Gold Award Ceremony.

Leaders were from 23 RCSCC Kent, 60 RCACS Confederation, Bluefield High School, Charlottetown Rural High School, East Wiltshire Intermediate School, Englewood School, Grace Christian School, Immanuel Christian School and Stonepark Intermediate School.

Gold recipients were from 60 RCACS Confederation, Bluefield High School, Colonel Gray High School, Grace Christian School, Immanuel Christian School and independent.

Emma MacPhail, a gold recipient, presented flowers to Perry.

The master of ceremonies for the evening was Thompson.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the dining room.
