A free bilingual genealogy workshop will be held at the Acadian Research Centre of P.E.I. on Sunday, Feb. 17, 1:30 p.m., to assist people who are new to Acadian genealogy or have done research but would like some help.

The centre is located at the Acadian Museum, 23 Main Dr. East (Route 2) in Miscouche and is the main research centre on the Island specializing in Acadian genealogy.

Genealogist and historian Jean Bernard who has published an eight-volume series, “Genealogy of Acadian Families of Prince Edward Island, c.1764-c.1900”, will be at the workshop to explain how to use his books for research.

Participants will be given an introduction to the records and resources of the research centre, and volunteers will be on hand to offer individual assistance.

This workshop is organized by the Sister Antoinette DesRoches Historical Committee. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. To reserve a seat, register by today by calling 902-432-2880. The storm date for the workshop is Feb. 24.
