The P.E.I. Association of Community Schools recently named June Ellis of East Bideford as their new provincial co-ordinator. Ellis replaces Shelley Montreuil of County Line Road, Kensington, who has held the position for the last two years.
Ellis brings with her over 20 years of experience with Community School either as a participant in classes, member of her Tyne Valley/Ellerslie board, or as an instructor. She recommends Community Schools as not only a way of learning a new skill, but as a social event to meet neighbours and make new friends.
This year there are 26 Community Schools on P.E.I. offering over 100 different courses. While some schools start in September, others start in January, and all run for 10 weeks.
Community School brings together people from all age groups to work, share and learn together while having fun.
The key to the success of Community School on P.E.I. is the volunteer committee members and instructors who all give their time free of charge so quality courses can be offered for minimal registration fees.
Planning is now underway for the fall and winter classes.
