Applications are now being accepted for a new scholarship for Island students who have participated in a 50-year-old hockey exchange.
The scholarship was established earlier this year by Mary and Reg Hennebery, members of the family that founded the Montague-Mount Hamilton Goodwill Games.
Beginning this fall, a yearly scholarship of $500 will be awarded to a P.E.I. resident attending a post-secondary educational institution in the year the scholarship is awarded and who has played in the Goodwill Games on the Montague minor hockey team.
Students must include an essay of no more than 400 words outlining their experience in the Goodwill Games as well as their educational and career goals.
Application forms can be found on the Community Fund P.E.I. website at cfpei.ca/applications, by phoning the CFPEI office at 902-892-3440 or by emailing email@example.com.
The deadline to apply is Sept. 30.
