Fiat Chrysler is recalling 2,239 2018 Pacifica minivans in Canada because of a reported steering problem.
In certain vehicles, the right front lower control arm ball joint could separate from the steering knuckle, causing loss of steering control, according to Transport Canada.
The company is notifying the owners of the vehicles — built at the Windsor Assembly Plant between Nov. 1, 2017 and Feb. 28 — 2018, by mail. The vehicles can be returned to dealerships, where they will be inspected. Parts will be replaced, if needed. The repairs will be free, and anyone who paid for repairs before the recall was announced will be reimbursed.
The 2,239 vehicles in Canada are among 48,000 in North America. There are 47,771 being recalled in the United States and 226 in Mexico, according to CNET’s Road Show.
