Still Axtion in St. John's; owner says amusement facility to remain open until at least Feb. 21

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Could Axtion bounce back?

A week after the St. John’s indoor amusement facility announced it would be closing due to decline in business during the COVID-19 pandemic, Axtion owner Ross Squires says the Hebron Way facility will stay open for at least another five weeks.

“Due to the overwhelming response from the community, customers and support from business leaders, Axtion will remain open until February 21st while we work on a possible solution”, said Squires on a Facebook post.

“This will also allow customers more time to visit Axtion for family fun and redeem gift cards and tickets. We will remain open  We will remain open for regular hours of operation as before.”

Originally located on Topsail Road in Mount Pearl before moving to a new east location, Axtion features climbing walls, rides, inflated slides, bumper cars and other attractions for individuals and groups, including birthday parties.

This past Sunday was to have been the last day of operation, but ….

“We’ve had a lot happen this past week,” said Squires, adding there will be a further announcement sometime next month.
