SYDNEY, N.S. — Peace by Chocolate founder and CEO Tareq Hadhad will give the keynote address for the inaugural Cape Breton Local Immigration Partnership partner update event on Oct. 23 at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre.

The Ways We Welcome event was originally scheduled to take place in March but was postponed amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Registration has reopened for the October update that will adhere to all public health guidelines.

Activities from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., will offer updates to Cape Breton organizations interested in immigration and newcomer settlement on the work of the immigration partnership and its efforts around building welcoming and inclusive communities.

Attendees will come together to explore best practices in cross-sector collaboration to further improve the newcomer settlement experience in Cape Breton, according to a press release on the event.

The event is free to attend but space is limited and registration is required by Oct. 9. Lunch is included.
