SYDNEY, N.S. — The Cape Breton Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting a member-exclusive lunch that includes a forum involving the six candidates running for CBRM mayor.
The Oct. 6 event is scheduled for the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Those attending will hear directly from the mayoral candidates about their vision and platforms in regard to business and economic development in the municipality.
CEO Kathleen Yurchesyn said the chamber’s mission is to empower businesses to thrive in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.
“We believe it is imperative to give our members the opportunity to hear directly from our mayoral candidates about their view, opinions and plans around business and economic development for the future of our municipality,” said Yurchesyn.
With COVID-19 guidelines still in effect, tables will seat a maximum of three people. However, groups of six can sit at the same table if they are from the same office or business.
Tickets to the event cost $50 and can be purchased at the chamber. Non-chamber members can view the forum on the chamber’s Facebook and YouTube sites.
Incumbent mayor Cecil Clarke is being challenged by District 8 Coun. Amanda McDougall as well as Chris Abbass, Kevin MacEachern, Archie MacKinnon and John Strasser.
