Murphy Group opening new oyster bar in Halifax

P.E.I.-based Murphy Hospitality Group is opening a new restaurant in Halifax called the Pickford & Black Fresh Seafood & Oyster Bar.

Pickford & Black Fresh Seafood & Oyster Bar will operate at 1869 Upper Water St. (the original location of Gahan House Harbourfront) with plans to be open for April 2019.

Gahan House Harbourfront will close for its transformation to become Pickford & Black effective March 18.

Pickford & Black will highlight local seafood, local craft beer and waterfront patio.

Gahan House Harbourfront is moving and changing its name to Gahan Nova Centre. Construction has begun with plans to open in May 2019 at 1615 Grafton St.

“We’ve always loved Halifax, from its people to its history, the company has always felt like we should be doing more in the city,’’ said Murphy Hospitality Group president Kevin Murphy.

More details on confirmed opening dates of both locations will be available in the coming months.  

Murphy Hospitality Group includes 16 food and beverage operations, two boutique hotels and the Prince Edward Island Brewing Company based in Prince Edward Island with locations in all three Maritime Provinces.
