CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — P.E.I.’s largest full-service building maintenance company recently announced the acquisition of two other Island companies.

United Janitorial, which serves commercial and residential properties, has purchased Drake Clean Up Systems and the Floor Mat Exchange service of White Star Laundry.

United Janitorial currently services more than 300 Island companies from Souris to Tignish.

The acquisitions will allow United Janitorial to expand service offerings, according to co-owners Trevor Bevan and Jordan A. Fraser.

“Our customers are looking for a complete building maintenance company who can handle all their maintenance needs,’’ the United co-owners said in a press release, noting that Errol Drake will be staying on to continue to operate Drake Clean Up Systems while Bruce Hickey will be helping transition the floor mat service to United.

Drake Clean Up Systems has worked on dryer vents, duct work, HVAC and heat pump cleaning work on the Island since 1989. Summerside’s White Star Floor Mat Exchange has been offering residents of Prince County and exchange program with a floor mat rental program on a daily, weekly and bi-weekly basis.

Drake and Hickey both said they are glad the two businesses are transitioning into local hands.
