NL businesses get government funding to market products

Clarenville, Deer Lake, Harbour Main and Labrador companies aiming to build their brands

Eight NL companies are getting government funding to build websites and social media campaigns to improve product branding and marketing.
With funding from the provincial government, eight companies from Newfoundland and Labrador will do more marketing on-line and with social media to build their brands and find new customers.

Eight small businesses are getting funding from the province of Newfoundland and Labrador to help market their products locally and beyond.

In a recent press releease the provincial government announced $216,000 for the businesses.

Ocean View Motel in St. Lawrence will receive $97,125 for branding, development of a website and online booking and digital marketing.

Iron Rock Brewing, Labrador’s first craft brewery, will get $43,064 to help with branding, label development, digital photography and other online marketing sales initiatives.

Hillside Fine Craft in Tors Cove, a company that creates one-of-a-kind jewelry using copper, enamel and sterling silver, will get $25,360. This funding, according to the provincial press release, will help the company develop an e-commerce website, marketing materials, signage and a social media campaign.

AirCo SheetMetal Inc. in Green’s Harbour, which specializes in producing and installing sheet metal components including heating, ventilation and air conditioning duct systems, wil get $15,517 for website development, promotional display boards, sample products, and other promotional materials.

Barrett and Kin Construction of Harbour Main will get $14,625 to develop an interactive website and social media campaign targeted to clients interested in small scale renewable energy solutions.

In Harbour Main, clean technology company Fundamental will get $9,000. This company offers solutions for energy efficiency, carbon emission reductions, climate change adaptation and renewable energy generation. The funding will assist them in video development to showcase their small scale renewable energy installations.

Atelier West Studios of Deer Lake, an art and fine craft production studio specializing in printmaking techniques, will get $6,507. The money will help them develop an e-commerce website and digital marketing campaign, and work with a production company to develop the skills to offer online workshops.

Karlande Designs, a a handcrafted jewelry business in Clarenville, will receive $4,800 for brand development, website enhancements and a social media campaign to enhance digital marketing.

In its budget for 2020, the province set aside $17 million for business research and development, commercialization and business development.
