Westisle recognizes Gallant

ELMSDALE – Grade 12 student Martina Gallant is Westisle Composite High School’s Greco Pizza/Capt. Sub student-athlete of the month.
The 17-year-old daughter of Jackie Doucette and Kevin Blanchard is currently in her third season on the Westisle senior girls’ basketball team. She was selected for the award based on her play as a fullback on her school’s senior AAA girls’ soccer team.
“She has an intense, competitive attitude,” said her soccer coach, Brian Allain. “She hates to lose.”
He described the Greenmount resident as a very reliable defender, who combines skill, speed and aggressiveness.
“She’s just an overall great player,” added Allain.
This was Martina’s third year on the team. She plans to play high school rugby for a second season.
Martina, who also plays summer soccer for West Prince, says she’s considering attending St. Francis Xavier University next year for science.
