LAVAL, QUE. – Defenceman Bailey Webster of Kelvin Grove has signed an amateur tryout contract with the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League.
The Rocket is the top affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens.
Webster recently completed his major junior career as captain of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Saint John Sea Dogs.
Webster played four full seasons with the Sea Dogs and seven games as an affiliated player in 2013-14 while playing with the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild of the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League. In 67 regular-season games with the Sea Dogs this season, Webster had one goal and 10 assists for 11 points.
Webster, 20, was expected to be in the Rocket’s lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Toronto Marlies.
