SUMMERSIDE – The East Wiltshire Warriors were the only undefeated boys’ team in the 41st annual Summerside Intermediate School (SIS) tip-off basketball tournament last weekend.
The Warriors went 3-0 (won-lost) in the round-robin format, and there were no championship games.
Athena Consolidated and Queen Charlotte both finished 2-1, and the SIS Owls went 1-2.
The tournament is held in memory of former school principal and longtime volleyball and basketball coach Glenn Edison.
Following are recaps of the boys’ games:
SIS 58 Stonepark 50
Nick Blanchard’s 20 points led the Owls while Gabe Trainor scored 17 to lead Stonepark. Both top scorers were named the players of the game.
East Wiltshire 60 SIS 35
Thomas Yeo’s 19-point effort keyed East Wiltshire’s attack. Landon Gallant had 10 points to pace the Owls.
Sam LeClair (East Wiltshire) and Nathan Enman (SIS) were the players of the game.

Queen Charlotte 55 SIS 42
Nathan Swansburg (Queen Charlotte) and Ethan Haakman (SIS) were the top point-getters. Their totals are unavailable.
Jeremy Norman (Queen Charlotte) and Will Somers (SIS) were announced as players of the game.
Queen Charlotte 57 M.E. Callaghan 48
Swansburg’s 15 points sparked Queen Charlotte. Nathan Ellsworth had 19 points for M.E. Callaghan.
The players of the game were Luke Thomson (Queen Charlotte) and Jesse Labobe (M.E. Callaghan).
East Wiltshire 90 M.E. Callaghan 59
Yeo had another strong performance for East Wiltshire with 34 points. Ellsworth, who was named Callaghan’s player of the game, sank 16 points.
Colby Munro was East Wiltshire’s player of the game.
Athena 59 Stonepark 33
Spencer Rossiter’s 24-point effort ignited Athena’s offence. Callen MacDonald-Wood contributed 14 for Stonepark.
Players of the game were Michael Friesen (Athena) and Callen Power (Stonepark).
Athena 49 Queen Charlotte 47
In the closest game of the tournament, Rossiter’s 20 points paced Athena. Jeremy Norman had 21 points for Queen Charlotte.
Rossiter and Swansburg were the players of the game.
East Wiltshire 71 Athena 44
Tyler Newson poured in 19 points for East Wiltshire. Rossiter continued his strong play with a 20-point effort.
Ben Tsai (East Wiltshire) and Zachary Blood (Athena) were chosen players of the game.
Stonepark Tigers 84 M.E. Callaghan 78
MacDonald-Wood, who was named Stonepark’s player of the game, registered 32 points while Ellsworth finished with 25 to lead M.E. Callaghan.
Jarvis McRae was recognized as M.E. Callaghan’s player of the game.
