CORNWALL – It was an undefeated showing for the Summerside United.
The United recorded an overall record of three wins and one tie en route to capturing the Under-13 Premier Division championship of the Eliot River Ramblers all girls kickoff soccer tournament over the weekend.
A 2-0-1 (won-lost-tied) round-robin record earned the United a berth in Sunday’s gold-medal game against the Winsloe/Charlottetown Royals.
The game was scoreless until Olivia James opened the scoring in the second half for the United. Summerside, backed by keeper Madelyn MacPherson’s shutout, was able to hold off the Royals, and Kristyn Taylor added an insurance marker with four minutes remaining. It was Taylor’s team-leading third goal of the tournament.
