CORNWALL – Strong defensive play and timely scoring proved to be two keys for the Summerside United.

The United, who outscored their opposition 5-2 in four games, captured the Under-15 Premier Division of the Eliot River Ramblers all girls kickoff soccer tournament on Sunday. The United completed the three-day event at 3-1 (won-lost).

Championship game
In a closely-contested final, the United met RC United. A goal early in the first half by Summerside’s Brooke Blanchard opened the scoring. The score would remain 1-0 until Brinley Gallant added an insurance marker halfway through the second half as Summerside would go on to post a 2-0 victory.
That was more than offence for Summerside keeper Lauren Clark, who earned her second shutout of the tournament.
