CHARLOTTETOWN – The Summerside Saultos Gymnastics Club had strong representation and showings at a major competition recently.
A total of 42 gymnasts from Saultos competed at the Prince Edward Classic, which attracts some of the best gymnasts from across Atlantic Canada to P.E.I.’s capital city. There were over 400 athletes participating in this year’s event.
Alice Ma, head women’s coach with the Saultos, was pleased with how the Summerside club’s athletes performed.
“This was our first competition of the year, so it was a great opportunity for the kids to test out some of their new routines and see where they’re at,” said Ma.
Saultos athletes are especially motivated to perform well this year to qualify for the Atlantic championships, which are being held in Summerside for the first time at Credit Union Place in April.
Next up for the Summerside athletes is the Frostbite invitational in Maine from Feb. 9 to 11.
