SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Du’Vaughn Maxwell had 25 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists Friday to pace the Island Storm to a road win in Saint John, N.B.

Chris Johnson added 24 points and Andre Stringer chipped in 23 as the visiting Storm defeated the Riptide 107-101 in National Basketball League of Canada action.

Marcus Bell added 12 points and 10 rebounds in the win while Franklin Session had 14 boards, nine points and six dimes.

Malcolm Miller led the Riptide with 23 points while Horace Wormley and Gabe Freeman each chipped in 18.

The Storm held quarter leads of 20-18, 50-42 and 74-63 and improved to 6-4 while the Riptide fall to 4-4. The Storm went 25-for-27 at the free-throw line while the Riptide was 15-for-22.

The Storm returns to the hardwood on Tuesday for a Boxing Day matinee with the Moncton Magic. Game time is 2 p.m. at the Eastlink Centre.
