Summerside under-15 girls collect silver

STRATFORD – The West Prince Storm’s offence exploded when the team needed it the most.

Two goals in extra time from Stephanie Arsenault, and a single by Janelle Perry, helped send the top-seeded Storm to the Subway P.E.I. Under-18 Girls Soccer League (First Division) championship on Saturday. The Storm defeated the Sherwood-Parkdale Rangers 6-3 in the winner-take-all final.
The two goals in extra time capped a hat-trick performance by Arsenault, who also scored early in the second half. Perry’s first goal of the game in the 87th minute tied the game 3-3, and extra overtime. The Storm’s Hayden Chaisson opened the scoring in the 18th minute.
Darian Burke scored twice for the Rangers, and Riley Chappell added a single marker.

Under-15 girls
In the under-15 girls’ First Division title match, the regular-season-champion Souris Lamplighters topped the Summerside Team One United 8-3.
Delaney Roche’s four-goal effort led the way for the Lamplighters while Emily Peters and Lucy MacPhee each added a pair of markers.
Abby Lawlor (2) and Sidney Arsenault replied for Summerside.

Under-15 boys
Souris edged Kings County 3-2 to win the under-15 boys’ First Division.
Alexander Dixon, Kiernan Rodgers and Quiton Mallard, who scored the winning goal in the 62nd minute, accounted for the Souris goals.
Cooper Campbell and Ryan MacDonald countered for Kings County.
Two evenly-matched teams split the regular-season series 1-1, and finished tied on top of the league standings, with Kings County edging out Souris for first place on goal differential.
