SUMMERSIDE – Three Summerside United teams recorded playoff wins in provincial Subway league action recently.
The Under-15 Premier Division girls edged Hillsborough United 1-0 on Ashlyn Pridham’s goal with four minutes remaining in the second 10-minute overtime half.
Lauren Clark earned the shutout as the United advanced to the provincial championship game against RC United on Thursday. The opening kickoff at the UPEI turf field in Charlottetown is set for 6 p.m.
In under-15 boys’ First Division, Summerside dropped a 1-0 decision to the host Kings County Chargers at the Morell Soccer Complex.
Jesse Foote scored the game’s lone goal in the second half to send Kings County into the provincial final against Souris on Aug. 25. That game, which will be played at the Stratford Soccer Complex, is scheduled to begin at 9:45 a.m.
In the under-13 boys’ Premier Division, the United defeated Central Queens 3-1 to advance to a semifinal game against the Winsloe/Charlottetown Royals in Winsloe on Aug. 29 at 6 p.m.
Summerside, which jumped out to a 1-0 lead against Central Queens at halftime, was led by Ethan Dickson’s two-goal performance and a single marker from Noah Farrell. Kody Vos countered for Central Queens.
The United won a first-round playoff game against visiting Souris in the under-13 girls’ First Division recently.
The United jumped out to a 2-0 lead at halftime, and went on to register a 3-0 decision.
Taia Gallant, Jaelynn Oatway and Katie-Grace Noye scored for the United.
Summerside will meet the Royals in a semifinal game in Winsloe on Aug. 27 at 6 p.m.
