Smith rink earns cash in Saint John, N.B.

The Veronica Smith rink from the Cornwall Curling Club finished second to the Sylvie Robichaud-skipped foursome in the women’s division at the recent WFG Jim Sullivan Classic cashspiel in Saint John, N.B.

Smith had a 6-4 lead after six ends, but Robichaud scored a triple in the seventh and stole a single in the eighth for the 8-6 come-from-behind win.

Smith and teammates Jane DiCarlo, Sabrina Smith and Whitney Young earned $1,150, while Robichaud’s squad picked up $1,750.

P.E.I.’s Robyn MacPhee rink lost in the semifinals and received $750.

No P.E.I. teams were entered in the men’s division.
