Gallant scored in the last minute of play to give Stratford a 2-1 victory over the Eliot River Ramblers in the girls’ final at the Parkman Soccer Complex on Saturday.
Leah Campbell had given the Ramblers a 1-0 halftime lead, and Reanna Rinco replied for the Ramblers 10 minutes into the second half.
In the boys’ final, Longley netted the game’s only goal in the first half to lift the Sherwood-Parkdale Rangers past Summerside United 1-0.
Cameron Jennings Hughes recorded the shutout.
Late goal
In the girls’ bronze-medal contest, Sidney Arsenault scored in the last minute of play to lift Summerside into a 2-2 tie with the West Prince Storm. The United went on to win in penalty kicks.
Abby Lawlor also scored for Summerside while Cyriah Richard and Madelyn Gavin countered for the Storm.
In the boys’ third-place game, Owen Connolly scored all four goals in pacing the Eliot River Ramblers to a 4-1 win over the Winsloe/Charlottetown Royals. Amir Abusneena replied for Winsloe/Charlottetown.
Sherwood-Parkdale, Stratford earn under-13 soccer gold medals
CHARLOTTETOWN – Kirsten Gallant and Izak Longley netted championship-winning goals in the Subway under-13 Division One provincial soccer championships.
